Ziegler's Ace - Elgin East

Whatever you do, don’t waste your time going to this location if you want to get a key fob key cut because unless you purchased the key fob key at this location, they will not cut the key. I’ve never had any other problems with any other Ace Hardware and the funniest part is they don’t even sell the key fob that I need so you need to tell me I can’t bring my own key fob in that’s brand new and you cut the key. I mean the other Ace Hardware charged me $50 but the fact that I have to not go find another location is ridiculous so don’t waste your time going to this one. let me just add something don’t go to any Ziegler Ace Hardware, cause they all have obviously the same policies that you have to purchase the key fob there which is stupid. They don’t even carry the one for my car so then I have to wait for them to order it. I need it done today so Instead of being accommodating and helpful to their customers, they’d rather inconvenience you make things More difficult simply because they’re greedy and want to make every single penny by forcing you to order a key fob from them. What happened to the day when Ace Hardware was like your neighborhood store and would do whatever they could

Went for a car key. No FOB; but it has a transponder. No one else was even close to Ace's price on this key. Juan cut and programed my key in a matter of minutes. A definite WIN!

Had a bad customer service experience about 4 years ago, hadn't been back since. Had to go yesterday because Home Depot said they would have the bigger washer that I needed. Really did not want to go here! Went up to the guy, looks at me like I bothered him just coming in. He looks at the washers; seems unsure of the size I need (same experience I had with a screw I needed 4 years ago). He was very rude. I told him this is why I haven't been here in 4 years, because of a bad experience. Instead of saying sorry about that, he says why did you come back? That says it all!!! Well, Mr. L.C.S., (Lousy Customer Service), I won't next time! I'll find any place but Ace. Your store doesn't have much time left anyway. There were only a few people in the store when I was there and every time I drive by the parking lot is empty. So, when you close down, Mr. Lousy, you won't have to ask why the customer are back... because they won't be! When you walk in, the employees look so miserable!!! It's unpleasant the minute you walk in. Another customer said that to me in the parking afterwards. Won't be long, Mr. Lousy!

We bought a new grill from this Ace hardware. It came with free delivery and assembly. I was worried it would be the type of situation where we would be waiting all day for a delivery guy. That was not the case at all. The delivery guy came early in the morning and had such a great attitude and was excited about our new grill for us. I wish we got his name. Support local businesses!

Doesn't always have every little thing but the staff is amazing and buying large their selection is impressive. Just remember it's a hardware store not a home improvement store.
